A computer is a complex assembly of interdependent components, but at its core lies a single, essential circuit board that serves as the central nervous system for the entire machine: the motherboard. Often called the mainboard or system board, it is the foundational platform upon which a computer is built. Its primary function is to provide the electrical and logical connections that allow the Central Processing Unit (CPU), memory, storage, and all other peripherals to communicate with one another. Without this crucial component, the individual parts of a computer would be unable to function as a cohesive unit.
